Type the words “Quantum of Solace” followed by the “Singapore” in the local Google search box (as in www.google.com.sg). Voila! A shortlist of local cinemas showing this latest Bond flick complete with screening times now appear below the first result. Click on the “More Theatres” link and you will be taken to a page with a fuller listing of more cinemas showing the movie.
Dubbed Movie Onebox, this feature was launched by Google today. And it is a concept so easy and intuitive that one hopes the search engine giant will take the idea and run with it. Restaurant, gadget and TV listing comes to mind. There is also an iGoogle gadget available for this feature. Check out this link for more info. Nice one, Google.
Seems pretty accurate to me, and it’s brainlessly easy to use as well! A function that I definitely will use. Think they have a tie-up with all the local movie houses and organizations.
Yea…I think they’ve had it for a while in the US. I’m wondering how accurate it is though. Where do they get the info? Anyone tried?
At last Singapore gets this tool, which is great for tourists – and for Singaporeans travelling overseas. It will fetch movie listings from cinemas in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, KL, Penang and more.
Cool tool.
Simple idea, but great concept. It reduces my online search time for theatres that are playing the movie I want to watch by quite a few clicks.
Great for tourists too who are out of town. e.g. try “madagascar 2 kuala lumpur”. It’s paired with a Google map so you know exactly where the cinema is.
Of course, this presumes you know what movie you want to watch in the first place! Only good if you know what you want, else if you’re exploring movie choices probably more useful to go to the GV, Eng Wah or Picturehouse sites to browse.
