Brother promises Internet features, faster prints with new laser printers

Brother has come up with six mono-laser and multi-function printers that promise faster, cheaper and more versatile printouts, like dual-sided options, for small and medium businesses in the region.

Known among many businesses here for its low-cost prints, the company has also included mobile Internet print features that have become common on rival models from HP, for example.

The new range, with the exception of one model, will support popular cloud and wireless print formats such as Google Cloud Print, Apple Air-Print and Wi-Fi Direct.

This feature is not available on the HL-5440D, the S$288 entry-level model in the range released on Thursday in Singapore. The rest of the range will feature more sophisticated features and cost up to S$1,088.

The top-end MFC-8910DW, for example, will support dual-sided printing, copying, scanning and faxing, a great time-saver for small businesses which have to regularly process tender bids and contracts, for example.

The HL-6180DW, meanwhile, is aimed at users who print a lot and frequently. It comes with a standard 500-sheet paper tray that is expandable to 1,050 sheets – more than enough for a small department or office.

All the printers come with three-year on-site warranty.
