It’s turning out to be a busy week in front of the telly for Singapore’s couch potatoes, as National Day draws near on August 9.
While StarHub is giving viewers free access to almost all its channels this week, rival pay-TV operator SingTel is offering its on-demand movies for just S$1 each from August 8 to 12. Among the 47 titles on offer are Hollywood blockbusters and Asian, Bollywood and Malay favourites, said the mio TV operator on Saturday.
The offer will be open to the more than 300,000 subscribers on the pay-TV service. Recent Hollywood releases typically cost about S$4.99 on their set-top boxes.
The red camp is also taking the occasion to drop prices temporarily for its broadband and mobile services. From now until August 12, those who sign up for its Flexi mobile plans or existing customers who renew their subscriptions will get S$47 off handset purchases and S$4.70 off their monthly subscription.
Selected broadband customers who add a TV package to their subscriptions will pay S$19.90 more instead of S$29.90 a month. The package includes football channels showing the new Barclays Premier League, which is kicking off on August 18.
