As the last weekend before Christmas rolls in, I hope you’ve finished shopping for your gifts. We’ve all come up with our customary gift guide earlier here, but if you…
1) Have a girlfriend/wife/fiancée
2) Have yet to buy a present for aforementioned wife/fiancée/girlfriend
3) Are absolutely CLUELESS on what gift to get
…you’ve landed on the right page.
As the girl geek of the Techgoondu gang, I shall reveal my secret Christmas gadget wish-list and perhaps, just perhaps, you might be inspired for a great gift idea for said girlfriend/wife/fiancée and will not make the mistake of getting her that Prada bag she wanted, but in the wrong colour (No, taupe and brown are NOT the same shade). Oops.
1) Gimme Tunes Shoe Speakers, $74.90
Speakers come in a bunch of funny shapes nowadays (Headless dog speakers, anyone?) but these Gimme Tunes Shoe speakers are certainly a novelty.
It’s okay if you want to buy your Jimmy Choos and Louboutins, but also consider a pair of these sleek and gorgeously-designed stiletto-speakers. Simply plug the shoe-speakers into your computer’s USB port and headphone jack to blast some party music from these beauties. If your significant other is a die-hard fashionista, chances are she’ll love these.
Gimme Tunes Shoe Speakers are available in black and red here, from $74.90.
2) Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 4S, $109
Almost everyone around you owns a smartphone nowadays and what with all the tweeting, Whatsapp-ing, checking Facebook and posting pictures on Instagram, chances are that your battery is going to run out of juice faster than you can say “Merry Christmas”.
If she uses an iPhone 4S, you can’t go wrong with the Mophie Juice Pack Air. It’s portable, allows you to charge your phone on the go and to top it all off, it comes in a range of yummy colours.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air is exclusively available at Apple here at $109.
3) Samsung DV300F, $349
If your lady loves taking photos and sharing them on Facebook, consider the Samsung DV300F which comes equipped with Wi-Fi. That lets her upload pictures straight to social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa.
Another great feature of the DV300F is the twin-LCD screens – a 3-inch rear screen as well as a 1.5-inch display on the front, which makes taking self-portrait photographs a whole lot easier.
The DV300F retails at Courts for $349.
4) iPad Mini, $448
If your lady is a big Apple fan, you’d definitely do no wrong by getting her Apple’s hottest new tablet, the iPad mini. Considerably smaller and more handbag-friendly, the iPad Mini is perfect for reading e-books, surfing the Web or sending e-mails on the go.
The iPad Mini is available from $448 at Apple.
5) Samsung Series 9 (Core i5 2537M processor 1.4GHz, 4GB RAM; 13.3-inch display), $2,199
This past 12 months have been the year of the ultrabook. One of my personal favourites this year is the Samsung Series 9. I mean – look at it. It’s a gorgeous, slim, sexy gadget that swept me off my feet the first time I had a chance to use it. While it’s slightly pricey, the specifications of the Series 9 are no slouch, with an Intel i5 Core processor and a blazing fast 128GB solid state drive.
Weighing in at a mere 1.16kg, the Series 9 is an ideal choice for the mobile warrior who is looking for an ultra-thin, portable laptop with both great functionality and a sleek appearance.
The Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook above is available at Courts at $2199.
