If you liked the original Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones, then you’ll be delighted to know that the British hi-fi company has come up with a wireless version today.
The P5 Wireless offers the same look and feel as the previous P5, the smaller of two headphone models from B&W, but lets you listen to your tunes without getting entangled in wires while rushing out of a crowded train.
It supports Bluetooth aptX, the wireless link preferred by some audio gear makers to reliably deliver music over the air. It’s also used in B&W’s T7 speakers (see review here).
With the wireless link, you can play music from compatible audio players and smartphones such as HTC’s One M9. At home, AV receivers may also let you listen to music without worrying about someone tripping over your headphone cable.
B&W claims that the P5 Wireless can last 17 hours on a single charge, which will be useful for folks flying long distance. The supplied USB cable lets you juice up from a PC or regular USB charging points as well.
The P5 Wireless relies on two 40mm drive units, which is similar to what you’d get on a pair of corded B&W P5 Series 2. Weighing a light 213 grams – or just 18 grams more – the wireless headphones are easy to pack for the road.
How much will all this leather-wrapped goodness cost, though? Like most B&W stuff these days, don’t expect it to be cheap.
In Singapore, the P5 Wireless is going for S$690 at local distributor The Experts Group.
