An eight-year-old boy’s futuristic vision of Singapore – complete with rocket-powered trains – will take over Google Singapore’s homepage on August 9, the country’s National Day.
Moh Journ Haydn’s “doodle” of Singapore 50 years from now won a contest organised by the online search company to commemorate the country’s 50th year of independence.
His drawing beat out entries by other schoolchildren today and also won him a trip to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.
In his vision of the future, things will be solar powered so the environment is safe from pollutants. There would be no jams in Singapore and most importantly, everyone is happy.
Here’s what the Beacon Primary School student told the Google folks (via its blog):
“Singapore will be powered by solar energy in the next fifty years. There will be no more pollution in the city and we can protect the environment. We will have continuous energy source. One significant change in Singapore is our transport vehicle. Having extendable rocket train will increase capacity of one ride and allow less waiting time. The trains will travel in modern tunnels. Both the trains and tunnels will run on solar energy. We will have no jam on roads. Everyone will be happy.”
