Songs define a people and there’s nothing like kicking off Singapore’s Jubilee weekend by firing up some tunes from Singapore artists from the past 50 years.
Music streaming service Deezer has dug up 50 made-in-Singapore tracks from 50 artists across 50 years, and made them free to listen to in the latest SG50 celebratory treat.
Before you say “everything also SG50”, this list has some popular acts over the ages.
You’ll find the Quests from the 1960s (for the pioneer generation), through to Concave Scream and Humpback Oak in the 1990s to today’s Sam Willows (for you Millennials).
So, take some time to explore Singapore’s musical heritage, which is one thing many Singaporeans don’t know much of. Alongside the Beatles and Madonnas of each era, there’s been a local musician making great tunes.
