Viddsee, a Singaporean video site featuring quality works by independent filmmakers from the region, has expanded its mobile presence with the launch of its Android app.
This is in line with its goals to bring cinematic short films to a growing mobile user base in Asia, following the launch of an iOS app in November last year.
The short films showcase unique and diverse stories from Asia, from well-loved genres like thrillers and comedy, to emerging stories about women, sexuality, adolescence, and documentaries about the lives of people in the region.
Viddsee’s Android app enables users to sync their films across desktop and mobile devices, receive personalised recommendations, and download films via Wi-Fi for offline playback, among other things.
The site hopes to expand on the habit of watching movies on the go, called “mobile cinema”, by getting more filmmakers onboard, said Ho Jia Jian, Viddsee’s co-founder.
The app is now available for download from Google’s Play Store, or via www.viddsee.com/android.
