PC gamers who want to play their games on their mobile phones, tablets or game decks can now use the Razer PC Remote Play technology to enjoy their favourite titles on the small screen with all the eye candy turned on.
Introduced as a beta at the CES show in January, Razer PC Remote Play is now out and promises to let gamers stream their PC games to their mobile devices at their full frame rate and resolution.
So, you could be sitting at the living room and streaming your PC game from your gaming rig onto your Windows, Android or iOS game deck, phone or tablet.
Game streaming isn’t new – Razer relies on technology used in the Nvidia Shield streaming media device, which has been updated various times from more than a decade ago. What Razer promises is wide compatibility and great graphics fit for today’s gadgets.
To get started, you have to download and install the Razer Cortex game launcher, which the gaming company says now comes with a new interface, along with added support for controllers compatible with iOS and Android, such as Razer’s own Kishi.
Razer’s PC Remote Play also works with the AV1 video codec for improved quality and lower latency. The promise: “Pristine visuals” with no black bars on each side of the screen.
On their mobile gadgets, users will have to install and run the Razer Nexus game launcher along with the Razer PC Remote Play app. Oh, you also need to sign in with a Razer ID.
The good news is that a large number of PC games appear to be supported. Folks who buy and play their games from Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft PC Game Pass should be able to stream their titles to their mobile devices.
